2022 BioAg Award Announcement
The Biologically Intensive Agriculture & Organic Farming (BIOAg) Program is an integral part of mission to promote innovative and applicable research into sustainable agriculture. From developing quinoa for organic farms to utilizing artificial intelligence in irrigated perennial systems, BIOAg has catalyzed research into new areas of sustainability for 16 years. Beyond the Washington specific impact of BIOAg, WSU faculty often utilize BIOAg funding to leverage large, federal research grants. In fact, BIOAg seeded projects leveraged over $12,000,000 from 2016-2020, with numerous journal publications, extension articles, and outreach materials produced. BIOAg is a program close to our hearts and we are excited to announce this year’s funded proposals.
The 2022 awarded BIOAg grants not only further the field of sustainable agriculture, but each project also supports a graduate student- effectively developing the future of sustainable agriculture research while producing valuable information. This year’s projects address needs within crop protection, diverse cropping systems, and waste management, and cover exploratory research, applied research, and extension efforts.
